Catholic Church Weddings in Corfu

This section applies to Catholic faith followers* who wish to marry in Corfu . Catholic weddings between two persons who are baptised Catholics are legally binding and parties concerned are not required to also perform a civil wedding.

*Note: This applies to Catholics of Italian, British, USA and Irish nationality. For other nationalities particular rules may apply.

The procedure involved goes as follows:

Parties concerned, meaning yourselves, must inform their Chaplainry in their home country in writing, of their intention to marry, at least six months in advance of the proposed wedding date, in order to obtain the following required certificates:

a) Catholic Faith Certificate per each applicant

b) Certificate of No Impediment to marriage per each applicant

c) Birth Certificate for each applicant (from your local authorities)

As soon as these certificates are obtained, you will need to have them translated into Greek by an official translator and certified by the local Greek Consulate in your home country. You will them send them over to us, originals and certified translations, and we will take case submit them to the local Catholic Church and have your proposed wedding date confirmed to you.
